After moving back to Ireland last year with his wife Stephanie and son Olivier, Peter O’Riordan has opened up to VIP Magazine about how married life and fatherhood is treating him.

The Xposé presenter met Stephanie in Maui, Hawaii in 2005 while on a J1, and knew it was going to be happily ever after there and then.

“I was there for a J1 visa and we became friends. Eight years later, she moves to LA and we meet up. It was the first time ever that I was really nervous around a lady, and then I knew she was the one. She really is extraordinary,” said Peter.

The pair might have moved back to Ireland last year so he could further his career, but given the opportunity, Peter has revealed to us that he would be a stay at home dad in a heartbeat – especially if he could get paid for it.

“Oh, one thousand per cent. Fatherhood has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever! I feel like it was an awakening for me and has helped me to go from being a selfish b*****d to being unbelievably selfless,” he said.

When it comes down to daddy-duties, the presenter revealed he doesn’t take things too seriously, and we wouldn’t have expected anything less.

“I should be calming him down at times when I’m amping him up, but I just like to have fun. I want him to be creative and do whatever he wants to right now. It’s so important that he has that fun, without being naughty,” he said.

Despite the hectic work he does with Xposé, Peter would never stay away from his family for the night, regardless of how tired he is. If he’s working abroad for a segment for the show, he’ll be on the last flight home at night – no matter what time it is, or how much he wants to sleep.

“It all comes back to the sacrifice that my wife has made for me in giving up her friends in LA and committing herself to us in every single way,” he revealed.

Peter continued, “Would it be easier after a long day to fall into bed in London? Definitely. Is it exhausting? Of course, but it’s the absolute least I can do and at the end of the day, I love her and I love my son and I want to be there.”
