What a week it’s shaping up to be for Aidan Turner. Polder series two hit our screens on BBC One last Sunday, and now he’s won the award for best television actor at the GQ Men of the Year awards, for the 18th century drama.

The 33-year-old Irish hunk won the award for his role of Ross Poldark, and was presented with the award by none other than fellow Irishman James Nesbitt, who hilariously introduced the Dublin native as “average looking!”

The ceremony took place in Turbine Hall at the Tate modern in London, and was attended by huge celebs such as Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Michael Parkinson and Ricky Gervais.
