Following his sudden departure from the band last year, Zayn Malik has finally opened up about the real reason he walked away from One Direction.
Not long after Zayn left, the group embarked on an extended break of their own, taking time to try new things.
Zayn has since opened up about why he left the band last March, revealing that he simply didn’t feel good any more.
Speaking to Highsnobiety Magazine, he said, “I just knew it was my time. I knew I wanted to do something different and start expressing the way I felt about certain things.
“I know that musicians are seen as one-sided people a lot of the time, but we do have other elements to us as well. I didn’t feel good. Do you know what I mean?
“And if you don’t feel good, you need to be able to express what it is that you are. I’m free at last.”
In the mean time, Niall Horan has also been working on some solo music, making the most of his break from the band.
