Jake Carter has revealed that dancing with Karen Byrne on Dancing with the Stars requires them to be very ‘close and intimate’.
While the pair danced passionately on the show, the 19-year-old insisted they are no more than dance partners and good friends.
When asked if there was romance between the two, he said: “No, there isn’t.”
He explained that the dance required them to play characters who were in love. 
“When you dance with people, you’re very close and intimate, it’s like acting,” he told the Sun.
“We did the salsa and you do have to act as if you are in love with this person.
“It’s a whole performance, so you have to be in that zone.
“I think that’s where people say the curse of Strictly comes from.”
The singer’s partner Karen won’t be hooking up with any of the other contestants either, as she is dating professional dancer Wojtek Potaskin.
The brother of singer Nathan Carter also had high praise for his partner and her boyfriend’s dancing skills.
“Wojtek is a brilliant dancer and himself and Karen dancing is just brilliant to watch.
“How intimate and together they are. Karen is a champion in Latin ballroom dancing and unreal on her feet.”
