Series one of First Dates Ireland only wrapped last night, and there have already been 5000 applicants for season two.
The show has proven to be tv gold in the last few weeks, entertaining the nation on Thursday nights so it’s not surprising that a second series has been commissioned.
The First Dates casting director, Ger Philpott, has said that next season looks set to be even more outrageous than the first.
Speaking to RTE Ten, he said, “The calibre of applicants for the second season is great.”
As well as this, he’s promising “more moments of tv gold,” which sounds just fine to us!
Season two will begin filming in late August or early September, at the Gibson Hotel in Dublin and the format of the show will remain the same.
Ger says that the secret to the success of this particular show is that “the programme has heart” and the team are genuinely trying to find good matches.
