It looks like we may already have a Dancing with the Stars winner on our hands.
According to Boylesports, Wild Youth singer David Whelan is now a firm favourite in the competition with odds of 11/10 to win.
David blew not only the viewers away but also the judges on Sunday night’s show after he performed a Charleston alongside his partner Salome and scored an impressive 24 points.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for Boylesports, said: “It was another drama-filled night on the dancefloor, with David Whelan’s Charleston taking centre stage. Katja Mia and Rosanna Davison followed suit and really impressed the judges, but David remains the star of the show according to punters.”
Fans also took to social media to share their opinion of David with one viewer writing on X: “The magnetic David Whelan just gets even better with each new week. Is he now a dark horse for the competition? #DWTSIRL”
While a second penned: “Winners there & tbh I wish she would do a dance show as Salome amazingggggggg #dwtsirl”
“When I’m on stage performing with a mic and a guitar, that’s my comfort zone,” he told us with a nod.
“I feel very at ease and controlled up there, I can use that surge of energy and that surge of adrenaline in my comfort zone. When it comes to this, I haven’t been able to control it.
“I was so nervous before this, I can’t even describe it. I wanted to get sick. But I was on a high after it.”
Well, whatever he’s doing, it’s working!
Dancing With The Stars continues on RTÉ One at 6:30pm on Sunday
