Who says you can't find love online!?

Daithi O’Se’s wife Rita has revealed that they found love after he “poked” her on Facebook.

Although the couple first crossed paths when Rita was a contestant in The Rose Of Tralee competition in 2008, their relationship blossomed only when they began to chat online.

The former New Jersey Rose admitted the pair fell for each other after spending months messaging on Facebook following her return to the US after the competition.

“After the Rose of Tralee, Facebook is how we connected a few months later,” Rita recently told the Herald.

“It started with a poke on Facebook. I think I kept popping up on the side of his page where it says suggested friends and we started messaging before we became friends,” she added.

The American beauty revealed how she used to get excited every time she received a message from the Kerryman.

“With the time difference, I was always excited to wake up to a message from him,” Rita said.

“It took a while, but we really got to know each other and it’s kind of special how it happened. It was almost like being pen pals”, she added.

The couple tied the knot in 2012 in Daithi’s hometown of Dingle in County Kerry. They became parents for the first time last year to Michael Og who was born on St Patrick’s day.

“Never did we think seven years ago that we’d be sitting here together, married with a baby”, said Rita.

After the pair initially got together, Daithi told The Independent that he fell for Rita when he watched her do her party piece on stage during The Rose Of Tralee competition.

Rita’s performance was a rendition of Pat Shortt’s hit “Jumbo Breakfast Roll.”
