The winners, decided by an expert panel and awarded at an exclusive lunch in Dublin’s Marker Hotel on November 19th, will be profiled in the December issue of VIP Magazine.
The Fashion Retail Award, is to celebrate Irish fashion businesses founded by women across the spectrum of design and influence. Here’s a bit more information about our inspiring nominees…
Pippa O’Connor – POCO
Former model Pippa O’Connor took her knowledge of the fashion industry and created a denim retail business in 2016. Year on year, POCO has grown and gone from strength to strength, expanding from selling a small range of jeans to a full clothing collection, including coats, tops, joggers and even trainers.
While it started as an online store, the team at POCO have gone on to open various pop-up stores throughout the country, in Dublin, Limerick and Cork to name a few, employing and attracting local customers.
Fiona Heaney – FeeG
With years of experience working for international brands, Fiona Heaney decided to go it alone in 2003 and launch Fee G. With a focus on bold and beautiful designs and classic wardrobe staples, these are timeless pieces that can be worn time and time again.
Fiona creates new collections each season, while keeping to a theme her clients know and love. Her new capsule collection Day by FeeG capitalises on the athleisure trend in style.
Lucy Nagle – Lucy Nagle Cashmere
Over the last few months we all learned to appreciate our comfy clothes, but Lucy Nagle was way ahead of the trend. She launched her first cashmere capsule collection in 2013 and has followed it up with gorgeous ranges year on year.
Over the last two years Lucy delighted customers by teaming up with a number of famous faces including Laura Wills, Pippa O’Connor and Vogue Williams to release gorgeous capsule ranges, for various seasons. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
Sinead Keary – Sinead Keary The Label
With a background in personal shopping, Sinead Keary has always had an eye for the most stylish pieces on the market, and in 2020 decided to launch her own brand, The Label.
With capsule pieces and wardrobe essentials to see you right through the year, Sinead’s keen to show people how to get the most from their clothes and transform looks depending on the season.
Rosie Connolly – 4TH ARQ
Social media star turned businesswoman Rosie Connolly launched a unisex clothing range in December 2020. Jackets, joggers and jumpers, it’s full of everyday and essential basics with a stylish twist.
The range can be purchased primarily online, but they recently opened their first pop-up store in Dundrum Town Centre, much to the delight of fans of the brand.
Chupi Sweetman – Chupi
Inspired by her grandmother’s love of jewellery, Chupi Sweetman launched her own brand in 2013. With all pieces created in Ireland using recycled gold and conflict-free diamonds and drawing inspiration from nature, Chupi and team vow to help everyone find a perfect piece to add to their collection, from gorgeous rings to beautiful necklaces and elegant earrings. Based in Dublin, Chupi offers online consultations and worldwide shipping.
Emma Fraser – Reverie, Nine Crows
Just over a decade after founding the incredibly successful Nine Crows brand, Emma Fraser launched her second vintage retail venture, Reverie in November 2020. While many of the pieces are perfect to wear as they are, some could be upcycled to create gorgeous new looks. With beautiful shirts, jeans and jackets, it’s the perfect place to find an array of unique items for your wardrobe.
Collections for Reverie drop online each season but if you’re looking to go in store and browse the rails, you can pop into Nine Crows to curb your shopping appetite. She’s also owner of Not Another Agency, which represents models and creatives.
Louise Stokes – Loulerie
After a number of years working in jewellers in the US, Louise Stokes returned to Ireland in 2007 full of inspiration and opened her own boutique. Just a short while later, she began designing and creating her own custom pieces, which are beautifully dainty and unique, catering for a whole host of people.
