“Very disappointing…” Podge and Rodge reportedly won’t be returning for a second season

The Podge & Rodge show has reportedly been cancelled by RTE after just one season.

The reboot of the hilarious comedy sketch show, featuring funny woman Doireann Garrihy, came back onto our screens last year after taking a break from the original format in 2010.

Previously starring Ireland’s Got Talent host Lucy Kennedy, the show welcomed on guests each week to Ballydung Manor to take on the two red headed rascals – but it is now thought to have had it’s day once again.

“It is very disappointing news for everyone involved in the show to be honest.” a source told The Irish Mail on Sunday.

“We felt that the show was funny and the live audience really added a new dimension. Doireann was a breath of fresh air and really, for someone who had never done any live television before, she was a real professional.”

“But the decision was made by RTÉ to keep it at just one series which is very disappointing,” they added.

Since Doireann took on the job as host, guests such as James Kavanagh, Kerry Katona, Rory Cowan and Erin McGregor have all visited the manor – in what was a hilariously successful stint for the former Spin 1038 radio host.

Will you be sad to see the show go!?
