He may have thought he made a show of himself on last week’s Late Late Show Valentine’s Special, but it seems Dean Dixon didn’t completely ruin his chances with his blind date Amanda Murphy, who has agreed to meet him again.

However, unfortunately for Dean, it will just be as friends.

Amanda has revealed that she has stayed in touch with the Coolock native, but when they meet up in the future it’ll be for a “friend date”.

Dean was a huge hit with viewers after his drunken antics on the show sent Twitter into overdrive, and the Kerry girl says she doesn’t mind that he had one too many.

“Dean seems like a lovely guy and he contacted me the day after the show just to chat about how everything went,” Amanda told the Herald.

“We will probably stay in touch and I’d love us to meet up again – as friends. I think he sounds like great craic.”

She added: “I think Dean thought he had embarrassed me on the show, but he didn’t at all. We all had a couple of drinks and it was clear that Dean had one or two more, but I just put that down to excitement.

“You get so much adrenaline on live TV that it’s a bit overwhelming, but we both just went with it. I have no regrets about going on the show and I had great craic,” she said.

Dean told Breakfast Republic on 2fm on Monday that he was mortified after his tv appearance, and subsequently going viral online.

He said, “I woke up on Saturday morning and I looked at myself in the mirror and I turned on my phone and I’m not joking, I said, ‘What have I done last night?'”

He added that he had “probably made a show of myself”. One viewer complained about Dean’s behaviour on the show, but on the whole it was a huge hit with audiences.

“The Late Late Show Valentine’s Special attracted an average audience of 612,100 viewers representing a 46 per cent share of the available audience and 1.2 million people tuned into the show for a minute or more over the course of the night.,” said a spokesperson for RTE.
