Nicola Hughes has admitted it hasn’t been easy dealing with some of Binky Felstead’s die-hard fans after starring alongside her in Made In Chelsea.

The Dublin model joined the cast this season as the new girlfriend of bad boy Alex, who formerly dated Binky and subsequently broke her heart.

And it seems that viewers have been taking sides between the blonde and brunette beauties.

“I’ve had a lot of Team Binky comments but to be honest it’s been quite mixed,” Nicola told The Diary, “you have to take the good with the bad I guess.”

The 25-year-old Sandyford native had never watched the show before her appearance, and revealed she was quite shocked by the interest that her and Binky’s meeting had generated.

“It’s mad, I didn’t think meeting Binky would be as big of a deal as it was, especially with all her fans,” Nicola said.

Their meeting certainly didn’t disappoint as the pair almost immediately clashed, and the Dublin model later accused Binky of being “fake”.

Nicola went on to say that their altercation was more of a miscommunication than anything else.

“I’d hear something she said about me and then she’d hear something that I supposedly said about her and that kind of built up the tension between us but it’s fine. She’s a nice girl, it was just a bad first encounter I guess.”

Like any situation with a new girlfriend meeting the old, the Assets model said she could understand where Binky’s fans were coming from.

“It’s the same anywhere, if a new girlfriend comes on the scene, no one is going to like her,” she commented.

An occasion that evidently still gets the claws out, however, is when the entire cast come together and watch the latest episode in the same room.

Nicola revealed she was really taken aback to learn what another cast member Jess, had been saying about Alex. “I was quite oblivious to Jess saying all these things about my boyfriend, I thought she was my friend, ” she told The Diary.

Coming up for the pretty blonde is RTE’s new show Exiles, which follows the lives of young Irish people trying to pursue their dream careers in Canada.

The show is set to launch sometime in the near future and TVNow have the inside scoop in next week’s magazine with one of the Irish model’s co-stars.

That’s another one for our TV schedule so!
