Skechers has just announced an exciting new partnership with renowned international artist, Ricardo Cavolo.
The new line of women’s street style footwear boasts the illustrator’s instantly recognisable flaming heart and eye imagery, and is the second instalment in Skechers’ new visual artist series.
Barcelona based artist Ricardo is best known for his individual style connecting folk art with traditional and modern tattoo culture, as well as European religious imagery and tribal arts.
His unique work tells stories of experiences through timeless icons and characters, focusing on portraitures and playfully depicting protagonists through symmetry and symbolism.
So, how does all of this relate to his new Skechers capsule collection? These stories will continue to be told through fashion, with Cavolo’s vibrant designs featured across a curated selection of trainers that are as comfortable as they are super cool.
Ricardo says: “My art tells stories of characters and their experiences through images that transcend culture and time.
“To see them continue their journey into this new dimension, where they now walk among us, is such a beautiful concept. It’s lovely to see Skechers celebrating art, and how they’re bringing artists and the fashion industry together to give us this incredible experience.”
Among the collection are the UNO – Many Eyes, a fashion sneaker featuring Cavolo’s signature ‘Eyes’ printed on them, and the UNO – Flaming Heart, showcasing the artist’s famed ‘Flaming Heart’ illustration across a durabuck upper.
This eye-catching collab is also being celebrated at Skechers, as the brand’s president Michael Greenberg says how proud he is of the new collection.
He says: “Ricardo Cavolo’s art is one of a kind. Fiery, direct and straight to the heart—literally. You can feel it the moment you see it—both in his images and on the collection’s uppers, which he personally designed.
“In a world where conversations are exploring how best to protect and nurture our creative voice, we are proud to work hand-in-hand with great talent through our Visual Artist Series and show how their ingenuity inspires us. Cavolo’s symbols of love, empathy and hope are all of this, personified.”
The Skechers x Ricardo Cavolo capsule is the second to debut in this new series. American artist and designer Jen Stark’s hypnotic collection of iconic drip patterns launched this summer, with a run of announcements expected through 2024.
