Síle Seoige has finally moved into her dream house.
She and her husband Damien bought the plot of land when their seven-year-old Cathal was just four months old.
They broke ground on it when Cathal was two and now five years later they’re finally in their forever home.
VIP Magazine is one of Síle’s first guests into the Galway gaffe. We get a tour and give you a little glimpse into her home in the August issue.
Speaking about her grá for the home, she tells us: “Every morning pulling back the curtains and being able to see the Atlantic instantly makes you feel grateful.
“The quality of life living in Spiddal is something I don’t take for granted. The beach is a five-minute walk, the kids love the sea, we’ve even an outdoor shower. The benefits of cold water are not lost on me. Even just splashing in the sea with the kids I always come out in a better mood.”
Síle and Damien were living in Dublin, but like many people around the country they couldn’t justify the soaring house prices.
“We decided to move out of Dublin for several reasons, the obvious being I’m originally from Connemara, Damien is from Cork, but also it was proving too expensive to stay living in Dublin. We were living in a 3-bed Semi-D in Lucan and for us to move into a bigger home in Dublin, we just couldn’t afford it.”
She goes on to say: “Moving out of Dublin and down the country, while the house has obviously cost a lot of money, the equivalent home in Dublin would be well beyond our reach.”
