Shane MacGowan’s wife gives update on singer’s health

Shane MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke has given an update on the singer’s health after he was admitted to hospital.

She shared that The Pogues frontman had been in ICU recently.

While she didn’t go into details about why he was in hospital she explained that he had been in ICU for several days before being released.

However, he was readmitted to the hospital over the weekend.

“I just wanted to thank everyone who is sending love and prayers for ⁦@ShaneMacGowan we really appreciate it and bless all of you and anyone anywhere who is having health challenges! @poguesofficial,” she wrote on social media.

She added a picture of herself and Shane from his hospital bed.

She previously told the Sunday Mirror: “He is still in hospital but he is doing well and being looked after. I didn’t want to worry people. He is out of the ICU and doing well.”

Shane has been receiving treatment in a Dublin hospital since late June as his health battle continues, according to reports.

The singer requires a wheelchair as well as a full-time carer after he broke his pelvis in 2016 before going on to break his knee and tearing his ligaments in 2020.
