Shane Filan has ruled out ever appearing on reality tv, despite his former Westlife band mates Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan furthering their fame on UK shows.

Despite Nicky and Kian achieving great popularity on Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here, Shane has said he will be steering clear of similar programmes – and has turned many offers down.

The 36-year-old has since embarked on a solo career since the hugely successful boyband went their separate ways in 2012, and says he wants to focus on the music going forward.

Chatting to Evoke.ie at the Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together 2015, held at Dublin’s FIRE restaurant, he said: “It’s not something I would do. It’s one of those things, like all the reality TV shows. I’ve been offered them all before, but personally I like to sing.

“But Nicky did great. He’s very determined to do something and be brilliant at it and he was. He was excellent at it and even Kian with the Jungle. He wanted to do that for seven or eight years, so he wanted to go and win it and do the challenges and jump out the plane.”

The dad of three added: “I wouldn’t even jump out of the plane. I would be gone before it even started.” But Shane did admit that if he ever was tempted to do a fly-on-the-wall show, it would have to be golf related.

The Me And The Moon singer’s second solo album Right Here topped the Irish charts last week, and even though he’s not interested in being a contestant on a reality show, he revealed he’d love to make a guest appearance and sing on Strictly or The X Factor.

“They’re massive shows. Will I get it? I honestly don’t think I will but you never know. Things can be surprising sometimes,” he told The Irish Star.
