It was a tough pill to swallow when Shane Byrne was voted off on Dancing with the Stars.
The rugby player saw himself in the bottom two against Panti Bliss this week before the judges chose to unanimously save Panti from elimination.
Speaking after his elimination, Shane confessed that he was “so glad” that he agreed to do the show.
He previously told VIP Magazine: “Don’t tell [my family] but at this stage, I should be thanking them. Really, I owe them a thanks for it. It didn’t feel like it at the time. But they were very insistent that I do it.”
After being eliminated from the series, he says: “Things are a bit crazy, balancing everything but when they decided that I was doing it, I went along with it and I am so, so glad I did.
“The lady they hoped I would get to dance with was Karen, which happened so that was fantastic. I could imagine having this experience with anyone other than Karen.”
Not only is he delighted that he took part, he is also urging other people to get involved.
“I am saying this is something you should do. If they are offered, they should do it. You put yourself out there week in, week out but the buzz of staying in is fantastic.”
Dancing with the Stars continues on RTÉ One on Sunday at 6:30pm
