Ryan Tubridy will make his return to the screen in the coming weeks.

It will be the first time that he will be on Irish TV since he stepped down from hosting duties on The Late Late Show.

The interview will air this month.

However, he won’t be discussing any of his personal updates when he appears in the hot seat.

Instead, he will be speaking about his favourite songs with Dave Fanning on Fanning At Whelan’s.

The show airs on Virgin Media later this month.

Speaking about the interview, Dave told The Sunday World: “I’m not talking to him about RTÉ, it’s just about the music. He does mention the words Late Late Show twice in it.”

He goes onto say: “I just want to talk to him about his music and wish him good luck on Virgin Radio and all that type of thing.

“I’m not interested in using Ryan to bash RTÉ, it doesn’t make sense, he’s on the programme talking music … next!”

The eight-episode series will also feature Dave’s interview with Sinéad O’Connor which took place back in 2000.

Brian O’Driscoll will also appear on this season of the show.

The first show of the series featured performances from Irish artists, Bell X1, Winnie Ama, Amy Michelle, Gurriers and Zapho.

Speaking about the shows, Dave Fanning said: “Fanning at Whelan’s is an important and vital platform for new upcoming Irish acts. It’s fantastic to be able to merge with Guinness Live & Rising, who share the exact same ethos. It’s a perfect fit, and with this series we have another 20 great acts throughout December and January – it’s gonna be great.”

Fanning At Whelan’s is on Saturdays at 10pm on Virgin Media Two
