We’re in for our second St Patrick’s Day without the usual festivities we would expect from the occasion. Although it’s sad that we won’t get to go to the parade or head to the pub with our friends, we’re all about making the best of it next Wednesday.
Thankfully, RTÉ have released a jam-packed schedule for the day to keep us entertained and still feeling in the Paddy’s Day spirit whilst at home.
The broadcaster will once again be bringing back their ‘Virtual Parade’ in the form of a variety of different shows throughout the day.
First up, Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane will be hosting a St Patrick’s Day special of the Today Show on which a whole host of celebs are set to appear.
There will be musical performances from Soulé, Una Healy and Mundy as well as appearances from astronaut, Chris Hadfield, Daniel and Majella O’Donnell as well as Mary McAleese.
Throughout the course of the show there are chances to win some incredible prizes, including one of 18 getaways within Ireland, perfect for this summer!
Presenter, Baz Ashmawy will be hosting a special called A St Patrick’s Festival Celebration, which will be based around the abundance of culture and creativity in Ireland.
The show will feature multiple musical performances from the likes of the Galway Orchestra, Hot House Flowers and Soulé.
As well as music there will be spoken word poetry from Stephen James Smith, a drone show over Dublin and Mark Smith will be debuting his short film.
This show will be live on RTÉ One at 6:30pm.
Lastly, is of course a Late Late Show special! Ryan Tubridy will be hosting the show like normal, and it’s set to focus on Irish music across the globe.
Although it hasn’t yet been revealed who, this special will be dedicated to someone who “represents the very best of the Irish spirit.”
All shall be revealed next week!
