“Never doubt Mr Bannon”: Viewers praise latest Room to Improve makeover

It may not be a straight road to get there but never doubt that Dermot Bannon will get us there in the end.

This week Room to Improve viewers were left blown away by the results of the gorgeous home.

Carmel and Hugh O’Neill spent €250,000 to renovate their stable so they could downsize from the house they raised their family in.

Thankfully they didn’t move too far away from their original home as the stable was located in the back garden.

They asked their daughter Hillary, son-in-law Paul and their grandkids to live with them in Blessington, Co Wicklow before making the decision to move into a smaller space.

“I was so happy when Hillary decided they’d like to come here because if they hadn’t we’d have sold it, maybe bought more locally, a smaller house,” Hugh told Dermot.

However, Hillary admitted she “couldn’t bare the thought” of the home leaving the family and wanted her parents to remain “in the area they love so much”.

It wasn’t an easy move, with the couple facing several challenges along the way.

In typical Room to Improve style, the home did go over budget by €20,000 but Hugh and Carmel were absolutely delighted with the results.

As were the viewers at home.

Room to Improve continues on Sundays at 9.30pm on RTÉ One
