Pop-up swimming pool coming to Ireland this year

If you’re a fan of swimming but not keen on the sea, you’re in luck this year, as an outdoor pop-up pool is set to tour around the country.

Moving around the country, the pool’s first stop has been confirmed as Donabate in north Co Dublin beginning on May 3rd. It’s set to be in Donabate Portrane Community Centre for 12 weeks before moving off to its next location.

The initiative comes from the Department of Sport and Swim Ireland with the aim of promoting water safety. As for their manifesto – they say: “Everyone has a connection with the water.”

The pool, which is heated and 12 meters long is open for both individual and group bookings. If you have a little one whose swimming lessons were put on hold over the pandemic, now is the perfect time to get them back splashing in the water, as one of the services of the development is providing swimming lessons.

As for where the pool will be heading next, we don’t know. But keep an eye here for more information on bookings and where the pool will show up next.
