We were already looking forward to tuning into this year’s TV IFTAs this week, but even more so now that host Amanda Byram has admitted she’ll be slagging all the nominees!
Anyone who has attended the VIP Style Awards in the past will be aware of a yearly “roast” from Publisher Michael O’Doherty, and it seems Amanda is planning to go down the same route.
Chatting to Nicky Byrne on his 2FM show today, she revealed: “It’s going to be a really fun night. There’s a lot of gags in there, a lot of roasting.
“I’m so excited. I’ve been a massive fan of the IFTA’s for years. It shines a spotlight on Irish talent and this incredible industry all over the world, and people do fly in for it, people do see it as a very big important occasion,” she commented.
The former model, who hosted the Pride of Ireland awards earlier this year, will be stepping back into the presenter role this Thursday in the Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Ballsbridge.
And among the moments she’s looking forward to is Brendan O’Carroll receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“He’s amazing. I mean the man is a genius. He’s got an IQ of something insane. He’s the perfect recipient for it,” she said.
Irish TV presenter Amanda Byram has revealed that this years IFTAs will feature a lot of gags and “roasting” celebs.
The show will be aired by TV3 on Friday evening. New TV3 soap Red Rock is leading the way with seven nominations, which will go head to head with rival soap Fair City, while other notable nominees are Mrs Browns Boys and 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy and The Voice of Ireland.
