Niall Horan has revealed that if he ever has to walk back from a night out in his native Mullingar at Christmas, he will always be picked up by An Garda Síochána and driven home.
The Irish singer performed his new single, This Town, on The Graham Norton Show last night, and joined the presenter on the couch for a chat, along with Chris O’Dowd, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner .
The 23-year-old recounted his annual trip home to Mullingar on the show and admitted that sometimes he enjoys the perks of his celebrity status.
“If it’s around Christmas time and there’s no taxis and I start walking home, the police will drive pass me, pick me up and bring me home.” he said. “I remember when they used to do that for a different reason!”
Niall also revealed that occasionally when he goes home some people are overly aware of his spending habits.
“Sometimes you’ll be buying a pint for one or two of the lads and the bar man will be like ‘Oh someone’s doing alright for themselves.’ and you’re like, it’s only a few pints.” he said.
