On March 12th, Netflix decided to bless our screens with the latest, most scandalous, reality TV show to date.
Temptation Island originally premiered in 2001 until 2003, was revived in 2019 and finally has been taken over by Netflix for its most recent season. Since the shows original premiere it has been hosted by Mark L. Walberg, an American host, actor and TV personality.
Temptation Island is a ten part series following the journey of four different straight couple’s relationships. Each couple comes to the island with an issue in their relationship they want to sort through. Some involve infidelity, some commitment issues.

The four men are separated from the four women and are placed on opposite sides of the island where they spend the upcoming days in private villas with twelve potential partners. Each couple has set rules before entering the villa for their partner which mainly involve not crossing any sexual boundaries.
Throughout their time there each member of the couples must go on multiple dates with the other singles in the villa and attempt to form deeper connections. The aim of the show is for each couple to not give into temptation, physical and sexual contact with the other members of the villa, in hopes that they will build a stronger connection with their partner who they came to the show with, to build trust and to learn more about who they are as individuals.

However, there are many twists and turns throughout the show that keep the couples on their toes. Every few days the boys and girls separately attend ‘bonfires’ where they are shown short video clips of what their partner has been getting up to on the other side of the island. The bonfire trips are where we see the island members feel every emotion under the sun from joy to insecurity, betrayal and anger.
Host, Mark, attempts to help each member understand why they are feeling the way they are in hopes for them to build personal strength outside of their relationships. The show ends with each couple reconnecting at their final bonfire where they see whether they want to rekindle their relationship or leave the island single or with someone else.

Throughout the show we see the members build new friendships and relationships, attend extravagant and fun dates, have parties that last until the birds are chirping and grow as people. Some of the members don’t take their original rules seriously and disrespect their partner in ways us viewers did not think were even possible.
From heavy petting to temptation tents with no cameras, excessive drinking, lingerie parties and even threesomes, Temptation Island really pushes its members to the limits and leaves its audience at the edge of their seats.
