Michael Flatley is set to appear on the big screen in his brand new film, Blackbird. The Lord of the Dance stars in the thriller that he directed, wrote and produced.

But when VIP Magazine flew out to his Malibu home back in 1999, a lifetime ago, we know, he revealed that he had no intentions of getting into Hollywood.

Speaking to us at the time, he admitted that he was happy sticking to his dancing.

“Hollywood is not for me. I’ve spent enough time there to know that it’s not my cup of tea. I love real people and real things and that’s not to say that there’s not a few of them there, but I much prefer Ireland and the European way of life,” he stated.

Although he confessed he would be happy if a biopic was made of him and he would love Basil Fawlty AKA John Cleese to play him. Well watch this space, Hollywood loves a biopic at the minute.

However, over a decade later when VIP swung by his Cork castle estate in 2011 he hinted that he might venture into the realm of acting.

“I have a whole bunch of different things coming up and I have a whole bunch of different dreams left and if 10 per cent take flight I would be a very happy man. But life is great. I couldn’t ask for more than what God has already given me,” he waxed poetically.

While the movie is being panned by critics, Michael has put his heart and soul into the upcoming flick.

Blackbird hits cinemas on September 2nd
