Mairead Ronan has opened up about her choice to leave her radio show at Today FM. The broadcaster had been with the station for 20 years but shared that there was no negative reason she chose to hand in her notice.

Instead, she shared that she absolutely loved her job but that she simply wanted to spend more time with her children whilst they are young. Speaking exclusively with VIP Magazine in our new issue she shared that she feels as if she’s taking more of a “career break” than quitting radio for good!

The presenter opened up about how she’s happier than she’s ever been since taking more time to spend with her kids, but also shared that it’s not picture-perfect all the time! She said; “Let me be honest because I don’t want anybody reading this to think that my home life is perfect and that we sit and paint and bake all day – there’s also killings!”

“It is bloody hard being at home, but at the moment with the kids the ages they are, I want to be here. I just want to do boring normal mum stuff!”

Since leaving her lunchtime slot on Today FM Galway native, Pamela Joyce has taken over the programme. Sharing the exciting news earlier this year she said; “Batten down the hatches y’all – here comes trouble!”

Revealing her delight at being back on the station she said; “It’s the first show I ever worked on when I joined the station in 2018 and I’ve always had such a love for it. And I can now officially call it my baby.”

“2 hours a day where you can hear some cracking tunes, my many tales of personal misfortune and of course plenty of divilment. Sadly for me – it means I now have to start wearing a bra to work.”
