Love Island star Ekin-Su was known for her blunt and rather funny moments on the eight series of Love Island which aired in the Summer of 2022, but she’s taken humour to a whole new level when you hear her pronunciation of Limerick.
The Turkish actress who was known for her explosive rows with boyfriend Davide and blunt honesty when talking to her fellow Love Island calini took to her Instagram stories to reveal she would be doing a few appearances on Irish soil.
Fans were delighted to hear she was coming over here but it wasn’t just her announcement of some Irish appearances that caught fans attention but her pronunciation of our very own Limerick.

The ex-Dancing on Ice contestant will be making appearances in Belfast, Wexford and Limerick and unfortunately for her when announcing the dates she completely butchered the pronunciation of Limerick saying it as two separate words “Lime Rick”, like the fruit and the men’s name.
It comes as no surprise at all that Ekin-Su struggled with the name considering Irish pronunciation is considered one of the top 10 hardest languages to pronounce in the world.
Many fans took to Twitter to point out the Love Island winner’s mishap with one fan commenting: “It’s so funny how the word Limerick isn’t just an Irish place so we can assume Ekin-Su has never heard a limerick before”. Even BBC presenter Jordan Kenny had a laugh about the entire thing taking to Twitter saying: “really enjoying Ekin Su’s pronunciation of Limerick on her insta stories 💀”.
Well she definitely won’t make that mistake again!
