Cork novelist Louise O’Neill has shared her delight at the news her popular novel ‘After The Silence’ is set for on-screen adaption.
The thriller revolves around the story of the mysterious death of a young woman, Nessa Crowley as a TV crew attempts to uncover the truth of her death 10 years later.
The production team set to turn Louise’s story into a TV series is the same team behind the hugely popular Peaky Blinders. Announcing the exciting news on her Twitter, Louise said:
“Some news… I’m delighted that Tiger Aspect (the production team behind Peaky Blinders, and other incredible shows) have bought the film and TV rights to #AfterTheSilence.”

Speaking to Bookseller about her triumph, Louise said she always felt that the novel would be perfect for the TV.
“While writing After the Silence, I often thought how cinematic it was – the bleak beauty of a windswept island off the Irish coast, the structuring of the novel around a true crime documentary, and a complex, complicated female character at its heart.”
“I’m delighted that Muirinn Lane Kelly, Lucy Bedford and Tiger Aspect Productions feel the same.”
Huge congratulations to Louise!
