Ed Sheeran and Anne Marie has taken on one of the biggest Christmas songs there is.

The singers were performing at BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge when they performed the Irish song.

Ed took on the part of The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan, while Anne Marie sang Kirsty MacColl’s lines.

Irish trad bang Beoga also performed on the cover.

Before the performance, the Perfect singer admitted to presenter Sarah Jane Crawford that he was nervous about the song.

“I feel like I’m going to get murdered for this cover,” he said on the show.

“It’s a cover that you shouldn’t really touch… But it’s Christmas and I brought Anne Marie with me,”

“I feel like kids of a certain generation are going to like it and adults are going to hate me.”

Fans loved the rendition, with one even saying she “loves this as much as the original.”

However, some people felt the song shouldn’t have been covered at all.

“Well that’s just ruined my Christmas,” a dramatic social media user said.
