Laura Whitmore just announced latest TV gig after stepping down from Love Island

Laura Whitmore has some more news to share with us!

The presenter, who announced earlier this week that she will no longer be hosting Love Island after three seasons, has now shared the exciting news about her new investigative show.

Sharing the news on Instagram she wrote, “Some news! (I’m all about the news this week, tomorrow I will reveal the breaking news of what I had for breakfast! Riveting stuff.)”

Continuing in the caption she revealed her thoughts on the show, “It’s a dream come true to have this platform and work with a brilliant team at ITV through this series of investigative films. Getting back to my journalist roots, I hope we can shine a light on some really important topics and issues and delve into a variety of serious and interesting real-life subjects.”

Laura is one busy lady recently, having just wrapped on this year’s Love Island, which we now know to be her last, she also recently announced that she will be making her West End debut in the critically-acclaimed psychological thriller 2:22.

When announcing her departure from Love Island Laura explained that with her schedule flying back and forth was not going to work.

“There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.


“I hope I did you proud Caroline,” she said.

She was inundated with messages of support from her pals, including many former Islanders who praised her skills.

Maura Higgins wrote: “You will be missed.”

While Dami Hope commented, “You were honestly the best, killed it every time.”

Faye Winter said: “She really would be proud! You done incredibly,” and Shaughna Phillips wrote, “You absolutely did! Going to miss you!”

ITV released their own statement following the news, wishing Laura all the best in her upcoming projects.

“Sadly Laura Whitmore has chosen to leave Love Island. Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series’ of the show. We’re so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.”
