It’s almost that time of year again, when Ireland’s fittest families take to our screens at home to battle it out to find who is ultimately the fittest.

Laura Fox, our brand new host for this year took to Instagram to reveal that filming for the semi-final has just wrapped and she can’t wait for everyone to tune in and watch. She mentioned just how long a day was had but that it was a fun filled day for all involved.

The 2FM host posted a picture to her Instagram stories alongside some of the Fittest Families crew. She captioned the post: “A long but ohmydayz fun day! Ireland’s fittest family semi finals DONE!”

Laura was announced as the new host back in June after Mairead Ronan hung up her runners after ten years hosting the show.

When the news of Laura’s appointment was announced, the radio host said: “I can’t wait to get started working with the incredible team of coaches on the show and the super-fit families who are going to be coming our way to take part later this year. It’s a dream job for me.”

Alan Tyler, RTÉ’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning said at the time that he was delighted to welcome Laura and Sonia O’Sullivan who would be covering Anna Geary’s coaching spot while the latter is on maternity leave.

He said: “We’re delighted to announce Laura Fox joining Ireland’s Fittest Family as presenter, whilst the legendary Sonia O’Sullivan is coming onboard as a coach for the upcoming season.”

Continuing on he said: “Laura is a rising star with a genuine passion for the show and this is a fantastic opportunity to bring her to screen. Ireland’s Fittest Family is a positive celebration of fitness, focus, and family, Sonia is the perfect addition to the line-up. Whenever Sonia competes, she plans to win, so it’s bound to make for another exciting competition this year.”
