Katja Mia celebrated her engagement to her partner, Daragh Curran last year with a fun night out in Dublin.
But her engagement celebrations are far from over as she has revealed that she’s heading to her native Burundi for a traditional party.
Speaking to Vicki Notaro on her podcast, You Had Me At Hello, she revealed: “We had a little engagement party in Dublin. So I thought the whole thing was done. But then my mam calls me up and she wants to throw us a whole traditional engagement.”
She went on to say: “I would have grown up going to these traditional engagements. The traditional engagement there is way bigger than the white wedding. They go all out. There’s Burundian drummers, Burundian dancers, you wear traditional clothing.

As for Daragh, he is absolutely buzzing for his first trip to not only Burundi but the entire continent of Africa!
“Daragh has never been to Burundi, he’s never been to Africa in his life,” she explained, saying: “[My family] are mad to meet him! It’s funny because he’s going to be the only white person there. So he’ll know how I feel!”
She also shared some details about her wedding day. And it sounds so glam!
“We’re going to have a destination wedding with a bunch of our friends and family who can travel. But that’s not any time soon. This is the first hurdle. We’ll deal with this last year.”
