Joanne McNally is sharing more of her new relationship with boyfriend Alan Byrne, joking about being “catfished” by his profile picture on the dating app where they met.
“Catfishing” is an online phenomenon when someone uses a fake identity and photos, pretending to be someone else on social media.
Speaking on her and Vogue Williams’ My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, the comedian explained how Alan had used old photos from his modelling days. Saying: “Yeah I met Alan on Raya and he’s a catfish.”
“His photos were like nine years old but anyway look we have moved on from that.”
Revealing that Alan had used photos from his time appearing in Diet Cokes ad campaigns from the 2010s.
Confessing: “Yeah I was catfished – he was using that Diet Coke ad that he did when he was like 23,”
Pal Vogue was unaware of Alan’s time as Mr Diet Coke, sharing her surprise saying: “Oh my god, he did the Diet Coke!”
Sharing how happy she is that Joanne has gone public with her relationship, Vogue shared: “I love now that everybody knows who your fella is!”
While Joanne admitted she waited to make sure the relationship was serious before sharing the new. Explaining: “you just have to wait to see if things are actually going to be a thing before”
They pair actually met on Raya, an dating app exclusively for celebrities and notable people.
Speaking on Instagram in May, she confessed; “I’m actually seeing someone. I met an Irish guy on Raya, he’s sound and we’re like, dating or whatever.”
“But obviously I’m going to block him from seeing this video because I don’t want him to know I’m acknowledging were dating, because embarrassing.”
