Jess Redden has opened up about “mum guilt” that tends to follow first-time mothers as they prepare to head back to work following their maternity leave.

The influencer and her rugby star husband, Rob Kearney welcomed the birth of their son last August, but now she has reached the end of her maternity leave.

Jess, who works as a pharmacist took to Instagram to let her followers know that the decision did not come easy to her and admitted to feeling guilty at leaving her little one in creche for the first time even for just an hour.

“Feeling emotions I’ve never felt, I hope it gets easier,” she confessed in a heartfelt poem.

“This day has come too soon, I’m anxious and I’m scared. But, I don’t think I’ll ever feel fully prepared.”

Adding: I’ll miss those endless days where it’s just you and me, it feels so wrong to let you go my little Baby B.

“You’re the best part of me and I’m your home, I hope you’ll always know, my tiny little baby boy I never thought it would be so hard to watch you grow.

“And, as you start this chapter, I hope you know how much you’re loved. I hope that you’ll be happy my tiny blessing from up above.”

In a follow-up message, Jess revealed that she has been doubting her decision to get back to work even though she knows that it will work out in the long term.

“Mum guilt is hitting hard, I keep second guessing my decision to go back to work but I know (hope) in the long run it will be the best decision for the both of us,” she shared.

As difficult as it is to leave her son, Bobby, Jess was touched by the amount of support she received from other mothers after opening up.

Feeling more excited about her return to work, she mentioned that she’s excited for Bobby to experience creche, adding: “You can have both roles, don’t let anyone make you think otherwise.”
