Jamie Dornan has opened up about his experience with online trolls since becoming an A-list celebrity.
The 50 Shades of Grey star admitted that he has received some harsh online abuse since rising to fame in 2015 and the scathing comments got so bad that he decided to quit social media.
The 34-year-old was a big fan of social media before he became a household name last year, but according to the Press Association his experience with online bullies became so harsh that he had to call time on his social media accounts.
He said, “The more public interest in you, the more horrible people become. People start to say disgusting things about your family, about your children. What’s the point?”
The Irish actor went on to say that when he made the decision to delete his Instagram account he had to contact his publicist because he didn’t even know his password.
He said, “To delete my Instagram … I had to email my publicist to get the password. Twitter I used to have a bit of fun with back in the day but I think I’ve tweeted twice in the last year.”
Jamie’s in the middle of promoting his two upcoming flicks; 9th Life of Louis Drax and Anthropoid – we can’t wait to see Jamie back on the big screen!
