James Patrice is giving Johnny Logan a run for his money as he commands the red carpet at this year’s Platinum VIP Style Awards.
“I really wanted to give Johnny Logan being rode by Liberace. That is the vibe I was going for,” he tells us with his signature wit, as he shows off his glamorous ensemble.
He handed over his Best Dressed Man to Dáithí Ó Sé on Saturday night, but he is throwing his hat in the ring for Most Sustainable next year as he reveals he upcycled his look.
“I’ve had this for years. I wore it in Dancing with the Stars years ago. And then this lovely costume designer, Sian Amar, who does costumes for the Olympia Panto and she’s stoned it for me to give it a new lease of life.

“I said I’d go for a bit of bedazzle, bit of fun, bit of rhinestone, because this is the night to do it.”
James is a busy man, but with The Today Show finishing up for the summer, he’ll have some more freedom. But he won’t be resting on his laurels. And neither will Malahide Woman.
“I’m going to keep on being fabulous. I know a few nice work bits, a few little TV bits coming up, but I can’t talk about yet,” he teases.
He teases a “few nice bits for Pride”.
“Malahide Woman has a busy summer ahead of her,” he tells us.

But most excitingly, he and his sister, Vanessa, have opened a theatre school.
“It’s Butler Patrice Performing Arts. We’re busy with that as well. We opened it there in February because Vanessa’s a music teacher, I studied drama in Trinity, and we both have always said we need to utilise our combined expertise.
“It’s opened in Malahide, and it’s going really well so far. Great feedback, students are amazing. We’re starting small, and we’ll build our way up, but it’s something that we both really enjoy. It’s a great kind of joy in seeing young people flourish and find themselves and realise how wonderful theatre can be.
“Not just for work but even just for your own peace of mind, getting that kind of confidence. So it’s nice to do that and see them all thrive.”
