Patrick Bergin is set to join EastEnders as baddie Aidan Joseph Patrick Maguire.
The actor is known for several big Hollywood movies including Sleeping with the Enemy alongside Julia Roberts, and Robin Hood.
More recently, the Irishman played Jim Tierney in Red Rock.
Now, the actor will play a ex-jailbird friend of Phil Mitchel in EastEnders.
Patrick revealed he has been a fan of the show for years and is very excited to join the soap.
He said: “It is an iconic show that has the ability to shape the way people think, whilst also telling big explosive stories that keep the audience gripped.
“I am really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for Aidan as it’s bound to be dramatic.”
His character will turn up in Albert Square later this year.
