After the year and a bit we’ve all endured, it’s safe to say we could do with something to put a smile on our faces. And you know what is guaranteed to induce a grin from ear to ear? A sausage dog! Lots of ’em!
If you’re a fan of the Dachsund breed and local to Dublin, it would seem you’re in luck this weekend, as a social event is taking place.
Hosted by Dublin Dachsund Bobby Dassler and his hooman Gillian, Sausage Social Dublin has been building momentum for the last couple of years, but sadly had to put a stop to events for much of the pandemic.
However, with restrictions lifting and an outdoor summer most definitely underway, the group’s monthly meet-ups are back, kicking off again this coming Sunday the 27th of June.
Meeting outside Happy Out cafe on Dublin’s Dollymount strand, the sausages will show that their little legs certainly don’t hold them back, walking the length of the beach and back while their humans socialise and swap adorable anecdotes about their fury babies.
You can expect to see dachshunds of all shapes and sizes in attendance. Coming in three different hair types – smooth, long, and wire hair, three different sizes – standard, miniature, and pinscher, and an array of colours from black and tan to cream and dapple, there’s a lot of variety when it comes to the weiners.
But, don’t worry, the meet-up is not just exclusive to dachshunds but dachshund lovers and their dogs too!
Details of the event can be found on Bobby’s page linked above. For those in attendance full social distancing regulations will be adhered to, with owners asked to bring and wear a mask for the duration.
Oh, and if you’re bringing your dachsie along, don’t forget to pack some water and treats.. it’ll be a loooong day!
