Erin McGregor has revealed that she sees the negative comments written about her on social media, and how it makes her feel.
The 36-year-old is currently taking part in Dancing with the Stars.
When it was announced that she was taking part in the reality show, there was a negative reaction from some critics, who accused her of using her brother Conor’s fame.
Speaking of the negative comments on social media and whether she pays much attention Erin told VIP:
“I always see things – both the good and the bad. I’m new to this. I’m growing as a person.
She added: “A few weeks ago the bad comments would have really hurt me and badly affected me but I’m getting stronger and I’m trying to focus more on the positive comments.”
The star has spoken openly about her battle with anxiety and nerves and says it’s a common problem.
“There’s a moment in everything that anyone does in life – career, buying a house, doing exams – where it can feel overwhelming and you need to dig deep and say you know what, I can do this. It had been a long time since I saw that side of myself.”
She told VIP Magazine how the reality show has helped her with the difficult feelings.
“I lost a little part of that fighter inside of me, but it’s starting to come out. Everyone has it though – it’s just a case of going in and finding it.”
She adds: “The support I’ve been getting from women is incredible. I wear my heart on my sleeve. What you see is what you get. I don’t try and change myself even though I do worry about what people think of me. Everybody does.”
“I am very critical of how I look, how I talk… I’ll always pinpoint the things I’m not happy about, but this show has helped me to get on with it. I’m proud of who I am, where I come from and I’m never going to change for anyone. I’ve come too far to change. I’m happy with who I am.”
Erin is currently top of the leaderboards on Dancing with the Stars, and is set to perform for the second time this weekend.
