Ryan Tubridy has admitted that he does still get nervous when it comes to presenting the Late Late show.
Tubs has been presenting the RTE chat show since 2009.
However, the host admits that he does get a little nervous when it comes back on air, but in a good way.
“I do get nervous – I don’t get failing nervous, I get excited-nervous,” he told our sister mag TV Now.
“But it does have a back-to-school feel to it, and there’s a touch of the unknown. I can sense that it’s going to go somewhere else.”
The presenter has also vowed to ‘loosen up’ the show.
“People often say to me, I found you more engaging in person now that I’ve met you.
“So I think what we’re trying now is to be a bit more natural, less showbiz, maybe more like the radio, which has a more natural feel to
it.”
He added: “I think we’re going to loosen up a bit.”
Ryan also explained that he shies away from negative comments on social media and would rather engage with people in person.
“I’m not on Twitter, so I don’t read the comments and I don’t go looking for them because you’re only setting yourself up for an unpleasant experience.
“So I will listen to the people that matter, the ones I meet in the supermarket in Clonakilty or Clifden who will say no to that, yes to that.
“I’ll take constructive criticism but I won’t take “sh*te.”
But the 44-year-old added that they do take into account what viewers are saying.
“I’ll have a beer after the show and one of the guys will say, ‘they went wild for this’ or ‘they didn’t like your man,’ so we hear it.
“I prefer to listen to people on the street when we take the radio show out around the country, rather than random messages.”
