Martin Short might have made it big in Hollywood, but he still feels connected to his family’s ancestral home, in Co. Armagh.

While promoting the second season of his hit show Only Murders in the Building, Martin joined his co-stars Steve Martin and Selena Gomez, on the Strawberry Alarm Clock, where he shared his Irish heritage and gave a shout out to a particularly impressive relative of his.

Saying; “I’m Irish. Shorts bar in Crossmaglen. It’s been in the family since 1880 and it is run by my aunt Rosaleen who is 97 today.”

With the Santa Claus star then offering a free drink to listeners. Promising; “Go to Crossmaglen, go to the bar and I’ll pay for a drink.”

The Canadian opened up about his family history, revealing how they ended up on the other side of the Atlantic.

Saying; “”He[My dad] went to Canada, then he met my mother and he had five children, I being the youngest.”

With other relatives going elsewhere.

“The others, one went to Birmingham, my uncle Frank, the father of Clare Short [the British MP], one went to New York, I have some Irish family in Brooklyn, and the rest stayed there.”

Here’s hoping he brings his Only Murders in the Building co-stars back to Shorts for a drink!
