Mamma Mia actor Dominic Cooper has admitted that he likes to listen to RTE to brush up on his Irish.

He loves our native tongue and is a big fan of Marian Finucane in particular.

Speaking to Joe.ie, the 38-year-old said that he enjoys listening to Marian and the bilingual news reports, which are still aired on RTE.

He said, “The Irish language is nice, it’s beautiful and on RTE they still do a news report which I listen to before the main news, which is amazing.

“So then you can kind of just try and relate it and work out what the words are, it’s good.

“I have to say I like RTE, what’s that lady’s name that sounds like Marianne? Marian Finucane, her.”

We wonder if the star’s love of gaelige came from his relationship with former Love/Hate star Ruth Negga.

The pair were first spotted together in 2010, and appear to be happily loved up ever since. They also worked alongside each other this year in AMC production, Preacher.
