Actor Patrick Bergin is set to take Red Rock by storm tonight as he joins the cast in the fictional harbour town. We discovered that the actor would be featuring in the crime drama last November, but tonight will be the first time viewers encounter the star.
Patrick is set to take on the role of Jimmy Tierney, the grandfather of Detective Rory Walsh (Chris Newman), who has recently gone rogue.
The Sleeping With The Enemy star said that he was thrilled to have been asked to take part in the drama, and that although he only makes a fleeting appearance his character influences the current storyline in a big way.
Speaking to the Irish Independent Patrick said, “I’m looking forward to bringing some danger and mystique to Red Rock.
“I’d seen a couple of episodes. It’s on the BBC now. I liked it and then I was approached shortly after.
“He has a lot of character in the sense that he’s not sentimental, but he has a conscience.
“He’s got a very strong central role in terms of the plot. He drives it in a certain, subtle way, so there were challenges as an actor to try and capture all that in a short space of time.”
We look forward to seeing what tonight’s episode of Red Rock has in store, as last week’s instalment left fans on the edge of their seats. Catch it on TV3 at 9pm.
