Model Holly Carpenter visited RTE last week for a sneak peak at the new Irish version of the hit tv show First Dates and made sure to make her own thoughts on the dating scene here known.
Writing in her column with The Herald today, the Dubliner said it’s extremely hard for people to meet a potential partner in Ireland.
In the piece, she said that while on the set of the new show, she took part in an interview for RTE player about her good and bad experiences with dating.
“It brought back memories of dates in my teens. I’m kind of glad that when I was younger we only had Bebo and MSN because dating is so different now. I think it’s really hard for Irish people to meet someone these days,” she wrote.
Holly gave her opinion on looking for love, saying that it never happens when you’re looking for someone, and that all of her relationships happened when she wasn’t expecting it.
The Dublin native has had previous high-profile relationships, including Irish Rugby star Cian Healy, which ended in 2014, and she is currently seeing Danny O’Reilly, frontman of The Coronas.
“None of my relationships started from a night out or began when I felt I was ready for a boyfriend. I believe in serendipity and, as cliched as it sounds, I think everything happens for a reason,” she added.
