Tonight’s Six One news on RTE One will probably be one of the most watched episodes in recent years.
While there are scandals, crimes and events that are worth tuning in for every evening, this one has an extra significance.
Bryan Dobson is set to present his last ever news broadcast on tonight.
The newsreader has co-anchored the show since 1996, making this a true end of an era.
The 57-year-old will make the move to radio show Morning Ireland on Wednesday.
There is no word yet as to who will replace Dobson on the tv news, but Sharon Ni Bheoláin will remain as co-anchor.
An RTÉ source said that the newscaster didn’t want to make a fuss about his departure.
“Bryan was reluctant to make a big deal about him leaving because the way he sees it, he’s only moving across the room,” they said according to Independent.ie
“He’s a very under-stated guy and doesn’t want a big fuss made. He would be happy enough with a low-key affair.”
We’re sure lots of families around Ireland will miss seeing Bryan on the show every night.
