Ed Sheeran made his Game of Thrones debut earlier this week, and while it was met with mixed reviews by fans, the show’s director has spoken out in his defence.
The singer had a short cameo in the first episode of the seventh season, and director Jeremy Podeswa couldn’t have been happier with his performance.
“I think Ed did a lovely job,” he told Newsweek. “He’s a lovely actor, and a lovely person.
“The hoo-ha seems to be from things that are outside of the world of the show.

“In the world of the show he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world.
“If people didn’t know who Ed was, they wouldn’t have thought about it twice.”
While Ed deleted his Twitter account earlier in the week, apparently due to harsh backlash, he has since reactivated the account.
Posting a simple message in his bio, he said, “I don’t use this anymore. Please follow em on @teddysphotos on Instagram. Loves of love x.”
