Especially when one of our very own is in one!
Yes, Saoirse-Monica Jackson is starring in Amazon Prime’s newest rom-com and we couldn’t be more excited about it.
The Derry Girls star joins Riverdale actress Camilla Mendes and other big names in the new feature, Upgraded which follows a young woman trying to make it in the art world.
A synopsis for the film reads: “Ana (Camila Mendes) is an ambitious intern dreaming of a career in the art world while trying to impress her demanding boss Claire (Marisa Tomei).
“When she’s upgraded to first class on a work trip, she meets handsome Will (Archie Renaux), who mistakes Ana for her boss– a white lie that sets off a glamorous chain of events, romance and opportunity, until her fib threatens to surface.”
Saoirse-Monica plays the role of Amy, a long-suffering art intern who’s waiting for her moment to shine, who strikes up a friendship with Camila’s character Ana.
In the trailer, the Derry native can be heard speaking in her Northern Irish accent, meaning she plays an Irish actress – we love to see it!
We also have another exciting project of Saoirse-Monica to look forward to later this year, as she returns to our screens, this time in a very different role.
While Saoirse will appear in the show, her role has been kept under wraps so far…
