First Dates contestant, Daphney Sanasie, has opened up about how the backlash she received following her appearance on the hit tv show cause her to suffer a mental breakdown.
Daphney was one of the contestants on the first show, and was all anyone could talk about. The vivacious South African native was paired up with shy Donegal man Lee. It was obvious to viewers that the two weren’t a match made in heaven, but it definitely made for some entertaining viewing!
Twitter went wild during the first episode with comments about the unlikely pairing but some of the comments were unfounded and offensive.
The part-time model revealed to the Sun, that the derogatory comments resulted in her hospitalisation after the show aired.
Daphney native received racist, abusive comments which left her unable to eat or sleep.
She also told The Sun that the fan mail she received while in hospital helped her recovery.
We’re glad she’s feeling better.
