RTE’s Dancing With The Stars got off to a flying start last night. Presenters Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne kept the audience engaged, while the contestants certainly brought the entertainment.

Last night the men took to the dance floor for the daunting task of performing on the first live show, while the ladies got to take it all in ahead of their dances next week.

Comedian Des Bishop, Big Brother star Hughie Maughan, Kerry GAA player Aidan O’Mahony, RTE sports commentator Des Cahill and Hometown member Dayl Cronin impressed the judges, giving signature routines their best shot.

However, viewers were quick to comment that one large aspect was noticeably absent from last night’s show- a live band. Taking to Twitter audiences said they were disappointed to not have heard a live band, as is normal on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Despite this one hiccup, viewers loved the programme. We enjoyed it too, and can’t wait to see the ladies rock the dance floor next week!
