Last night saw well-known Irish faces step out in style at the opening night of Chicago at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin. The award-winning smash hit is the longest running American musical in Broadway and West End history.
For those that aren’t familiar with the story it’s set amidst the razzle dazzle of 1920’s and follows Roxy hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. What follows is her chase for fame and media coverage as both she and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly vye for the attention of Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to get them off the hook by distracting with with sensational headlines.
You can expect lots of laughs, incredible choreography and costumes as well as all the show-stopping songs you know and love like ‘Razzle Dazzle’, ‘Cell Block Tango’ and ‘All That Jazz.’
Spotted on the night were Dancing with the Stars professionals Denys Samson and Ervinas Merfeldas, Marty Whelan and his wife Maria, James Kavanagh, James Patrice, Charleen Murphy, Sophie Murray and Pamela Joyce.
