Fair City actor Aaron Harris passes away

Former Fair City actor Aaron Harris passed away in Spain earlier this month.

His co-stars shared the news as they began to leave tributes for the actor.

The actor died on Monday, September 4th in Spain.

Aaron, whose real name is David, played Detective Garda Myles Byrne on the RTÉ soap.

He appeared on the soap from 2003 to 2007 as the wily detective.

As well as Fair City, he was known for playing the role of DS Andy Dixon on ITV crime show Wycliffe between 1994 and 1996.

His death notice on RIP.ie reads: “Late of London, Limerick, & Lahinch. David passed away Suddenly in Spain on 4th September 2023. Pre-deceased by Victor & Vivienne.”

“Sadly missed by his loving Partner Louise, brothers Hayman & Ken, sister Alison, brother-in-law Gerry, sister’s-in-law Ann-Marie, Siobhan & Pauline, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.”

His co-star Tommy O’Neill took to social media to pay tribute to his friend, writing: “It is with a very sad heart I write this. My Friend and Partner on Fair City, Aaron Harris AKA Myles has passed away in Spain. My thoughts are with his Family.

“We had fun working together even though I sometimes drove him crazy. I was very very fond of Aaron and wish him a Happy Journey to the great show in the sky. R.I.P. Brother.”

Tommy played the role of Detective Byrne’s partner Detective John Deegan, and returned to the show last year.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
